Everyday Wealth is for Mature Women
Inspirational Quote
"My object in life is not simply to make money for myself or to spend it on myself. I love to use a part of what I make in trying to help others."
Madam C.J. Walker - America's first female millionaire - as quoted in Talking Drums: An African-American Quote Collection
Everyday Wealth
Like Madam Walker my life is not simply about making money for the sake of having money. I think this is true of many artists and other people who study subjects which will not necessarily lead to six-figure incomes. I can’t be the only one who has gone to college in search of a profitable education but instead discovered a fascinating subject that if pursued would cost more resources than it was likely to generate.
The purpose of a college education is to get a degree that will help you earn a good/better/best living. I forgot that when I declared a major in fine art. There are no guarantees with any degree but there are many lists I could have consulted before declaring a major. These lists would have reminded me that a fine art degree is likely to be less lucrative than an engineering degree. Fine art isn’t even on CNN Money’s “What’s a degree worth” list. Would I have heeded a list? No.
Since my mid twenties when I was introduced to the writings of Marsha Sinetar the title of one of her books has been my life motto; “Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow.” I’ve enjoyed searching for work I love. And now that I’ve found it I am confident that the money will flow to me thereby allowing me to follow Madam Walker in putting what I’ve been blessed with to positive use.
