Personal Growth and Self Improvement by Asking Yourself Questions?
Questioning and answering yourself is the only way to achieve
personal growth and self-improvement. It's a simple yet mind and life
altering process. It's best done in a journal of some sort. Starting
basically works like this ...
- you gather something to write on and something to write with
- you stop the world for 15 minutes or more
- you sit down in a quiet, comfortable, well-lit place
- you write and then answer a question along the lines of Where
Am I In My Life?
After throughly answering the question
(this might take you one sitting or several) you sit (or walk) and
just think about your answer and the path your mind traveled to get
to the answer.
Phrase 2: Get ready to talk to
yourself past, present, and future
Your intial
writing gave you a starting point. Where you go next depends on a lot
of factors. Defining and diving those factors is what this section of
MultiPurposeWoman is about. We'll also learn about lot about self
talk and journal keeping.
Phrase 2 1/2: Learn to split words
and phrases
The terms personal-growth and self-improvement mean different
things. I'm not just talking about in that abstract way of “every
thing means something different to every person”. I mean each
speaks to a different process that could be helpful at different
times. While acknowledging that the connotations might vary from
person to person it's important to define each and operate from those
definitions if you are really interested in achieving either state.
How are diaries different from journals?
Again, with the necessary word
splitting. Some people use the words diary and journal to refer to
the same thing. We're not going to do that.
For our purposes of
personal growth and self-improvement, let's define a diary as a
stream-of-consciousness record of happenings with a focus on the
personal feelings of the diarist. Diaries are not about
self-improvment or growth of any kind. They are for spewing and
musing and expelling thoughts/feelings that are clogging up your
head.
Journals have a more specific purpose.
And journal keeping is a process worth exploring deeply. We'll do that together here at MultiPurposeWoman's Random Interviews and Self-Knowing section.
