Turn Your Favorite Restaurants Into Gluten Free Restaurants
Do you know of any totally gluten free restaurants? I don't either but I do know how to have safe meals while dining out.
Having
meals at restaurants is a normal part of life. Eating gluten free while
eating outside your home can be a super-challenge but it can be done.
All you need to do is 1. learn a few strategies and 2. be diligent and
high-maintenance.
Strategy 1: Know for thyself
Never
trust wait-staff to know if something is gluten-free. You are the one
who will suffer if they are mistaken or just misrepresent their
knowledge.
Strategy 2: Keep it simple
Eat
something that should be safe and note how you feel within the hour
after the meal. Remember what's naturally gluten free. Refresh your
memory with this gluten free food list.
The need to eat gluten free is a great opportunity to increase your intake of fish and vegetables. It'll make you healthier.
Strategy 3: Eat transparent
Beware
of soups, sauces, gravies, and of course anything fried. If there's
something covering your food you need to know what it is. Most often
soups, sauces, gravies, and coatings contain “regular” flour, which is
wheat based.
If a soup, sauce, gravy, or fried dish has been
prepared with something special, like a gluten free grain, the chef
will brag about it. If nothing is mentioned more than likely a wheat
based flour has been used. If the dish sounds really appetizing ask a
few questions and remember how you will feel if it contains gluten. Is
it worth it?
We Deserve to be Healthy Women!
It's
your duty and in your best interest to turn your favorite restaurants
into gluten free restaurants. Help yourself while helping others. Women
on no gluten diets sometimes need gluten free restaurants. They're
nonexistent though, so a more realistic plan is to learn how to
identify and ask for gluten free foods and preparations.
Practice
being high maintenance. If you frequently visit a restaurant let the
wait staff and the chef know that you are gluten intolerant and what it
means. They could turn into one of your dream gluten free restaurants.
