Bueno dias, Visitor. MultiPurposeWoman is all about you so explore.

food and drink daily decisions

Food and drink are part of everyday life. No matter where you are in your life those two things play a major role. MultiPurposeWoman is by, about, and for mature women, primarily American women and for better and worse my musings and observations about food and drink will reflect my matureness, my femaleness, and my Americaness.

This entire life area of Daily Celebrations can't help but be colored by those facts of my being. As a woman in her 40s who lives with food related health issues I feel like I spend even more time than most people worrying about what I eat and drink and what I don't or should or shouldn't eat and drink. Not to mention what I should or should put on my body or allow into my house or wider environment.

An Embarrassment of Riches

Who among us doesn't have an awareness of what our abundance has cost us and the rest of the world. Again for better and/or worse. What does it mean to be an adult female in this country in this time? How much of the problems around the world water supply, food contamination, and related topics do we need to not only be aware of but act on – every day? every meal?

When I started writing this introduction my plan was to simply talk about how I'd use this section of MultipurposeWoman to share, and encourage others to share, information about food and drink. You know ... recipes, favorite foods, wines to try, ...

Where did all this heavier stuff come from?

Why instead did my mind race to consciousness raising about how food is a feminist issue. How will I work it out to talk about something as necessary, as everyday, and ordinary and so radical as food and drink in a way that we all can celebrate its ability to comfort as well acknowledge its ability to harm as well as heal and still speak to its role as sustainer?

Well I'll just start and we'll see. Help me by contributing your thoughts as life happens and you eat meals with friends and family and drink to the health of the world.
