Be a Party Planner for Your Life

The Daily Celebrations part of MPW.com is all about the joy of and in ordinary life. Here we'll practice making every day a happy day. Women should celebrate daily life. We can help each other acknowledge all that's right with our ordinary lives. Together we'll all experience greater joy and happiness.

Daily Celebrations are closely connected to creative recovery so be sure and check out the Creative Recovery part of multipurpose-woman.

Let's expand the definition of holiday

Holiday ...

  1. A day on which custom or law dictates a halting of general business activity to commemorate or celebrate a particular event
  2. A day free from work which one may spend at leisure; day off
  3. We're efficient women. Do we really need an entire day to commemorate or celebrate something? Not always.

If you have an hour or even a 15-minute block of time you can honor the importance of some event. You can observe an entire holiday over lunch with a few friends.

All holidays don't have to involve gift giving. And when they do the gifts can/should be simple, from the heart, and as often as possible, hand-made.

Let's make every day a holiday

The everyday, ordinary business of our lives deserves to be commemorated and celebrated. The things we truly care about merit some time of focus and hoopla.

Forget those old standards preprinted on freebie calendars. Compile your own list of events that should be elevated to holiday. MultiPurpose-Woman has a growing list of reasons to celebrate that you can use until you have your own in place.

Is your ordinary life EXTRA?

One measure to determine if your ordinary life is e.x.t.r.a it would be to ask yourself if your life is ...

  • Effective?
  • Xuberant?
  • Therapeutic?
  • Rooted?&
  • Amusing?

"The education and empowerment of women throughout the world cannot fail to result in a more caring, tolerant, just and peaceful life for all."

Aung San Suu Kyi; Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, leader of Burma's democracy movement

extra-ordinary life celebration poll

When my daughter was little we started to have "mother-daughter-day-out every week even though we were a two-person household. We were together everyday but that day was always extra special.
